How to: Reduce lines around the eyes

So you want to reduce the appearance (or extension) of those fine lines forming at the corners of your eyes  – the crows feet… Here is a list of some of the best skin care ingredients to treat fine lines, particularly around the eyes, and to help preserve the integrity of this delicate skin.. Some of them may even be in your fridge!

Acetyl Tetrapeptide-5

Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 is a synthetic peptide comprised of four amino acids that is used to suppress the production of excess interleukins, the chemical messengers which trigger the body’s acute inflammatory response. Excess interleukins can lead to glycation damage, or the process by which glucose links with proteins and causes them to bind together and stiffen tissue, having a negative effect on the skin’s support system. The support system, comprised of collagen, elastin and other proteins, are vital in the restoration of skin and avoiding wrinkles, sagging, and uneven skin tone.

Cucumis sativa extract (Cucumber extract)

Organic Cucumber extract functions as a skin conditioning agent. It is an astringent, and is also a soothing and cooling, skin nutrient that attracts moisture and hydrates the skin. It is known to refine pores while balancing oil and toning skin.

Centella Asiatica (Gotu Kola)

There are several uses for the Gotu Kola herb, given its skin-tightening and regenerative capacity, the herb is  used for its anti-wrinkle properties, and its ability to reduce acne-induced blemishes. Similar to Aloe Vera in its medicinal uses, it is most used for its anti-inflammatory activity.

 Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria)

One of the active ingredients of this essential oil is the Terpene Bisabolo. Other active ingredients include Fernesene, Chamazulene, Flavanoids (including Apigenin, Guerenin, Quercetin, Patuletin, Coumarin and Luteolin). This natural element possess healing and anti-inflammatory properties.

Equisetum Arvense Leaf (Horsetail)

Horsetail extract is primarily used as a skin conditioning agent. Horsetail softens, hydrates and smoothes skin.

Camellia sinensis (Green Tea) Extract

Green Tea Extract has anti-oxidant properties and helps to protect the skin from external environmental influences, therefore helping to fight the signs of premature ageing. It is botanically known as Camellia sinensis.

Squalene is derived from vegetable oil, it is a natural component of the skin’s sebum and has emollient properties that soften and soothe skin. By adds a layer of oil on the skin, Squalene helps slow water loss and keeps skin soft and supple. Applying this to the skin around the eyes helps soften skin and reduce dry skin and rough appearance.
